I've already done a number of things I usually never do, like weed around the garden boxes, clean the girls' room, get the kids to bed on time... So I figured why not update our blog too? I don't really have anything to say, but I betcha we've got some cute pictures. Hold on....This is Jane feeding the giraffe at the zoo on Christmas day. Their tounges are purple, slimy, and long, but it's a thrilling experience.
OK...I must be on a Christmas kick. This is the yule log I made for Christmas. It was a chocolate flourless cake with chocolate mousse, and frosted with whipped ganache. But the cool thing are those meringue mushrooms. If you've never made them I tell you to go and do it. It's so fun and you will be the most popular girl at the party.
Hmmm....Here we go. This is the first of my first successful tomato harvest, one nice thing about living in Phoenix. This was a couple of weeks ago, since then we've had mucho tomatoes. Edie has discovered that she loves them, which is good because now her eating repertoire consists of bread, cheese, and now tomatoes. We've also discovered that even the barely orange garden tomatoes are more flavorful than the store variety. Gives you a clue as to how early they must pick them.
Oh Boy. There's a story with this one. Konden and I were cleaning the kitchen while the kids were tucked snugly in their beds...or so we thought. We heard scampering down the hall and went to investigate. Aster was covered in marker from head to toe. She saw us and high tailed it to out bathroom saying "I clean it! I clean it!" Clean what? Oh just the nail polish spilled all over the counter. With what, you may be wondering? What better to clean spilled nail polish than a maxi pad? You may notice the make up in the back ground. She was wearing that too. SO we confiscated the marker, got her cleaned up, and sent her to bed (and locked her door) We wake up the next morning and Eliza got out of bed and her entire face (and arms too I think) were covered with marker as well as the side of her bed which was also covered with stickers.
What do you do with something like that? I'm still scratching my head.
Well I'll end. Konden's in Sacramento at a conference he's presenting at. I miss him. He'll be home tomorrow. It's not so bad when he's only gone a day or two. I don't mind him travelling if it's just a weekend. Plus I can leave the kids in their pajamas half the day and nobody knows.....
