The sun goes to bed at 6.

We've changed our rockin' playlist music to be more appropriate for Sunday. Ok so updates .... I don't remember. I'll do the pictures, and that may help.

Ah... the hike. We planned a great hike for FHE, and we packed a picnic to eat at the top of the mountain and the girls all had appropriate foot wear (no small task), and according to our plan, we picked Konden up at 6:00 and we were going to go straight there and have a gay old time. Well I never noticed this happening before, but apparently it gets dark at 6, at least that day it did. The girls were disappointed, and didn't keep it to themselves. But we made the most of it and had our special dinner in the dark at a picnic bench by the parking lot. Then we wandered around in the dark, called it a hike, and miraculously we didn't lose anybody. So in case you don't know, and are planning something outdoors at 6, IT WILL BE DARK.

Edie lost her first tooth. Two weeks after Eliza lost her first tooth. Eliza has since lost her second tooth, and has thus regained her honor.

I love throwing birthday parties, and Jane even agreed to the space alien theme that I've been coaxing the kids to do (how many different variations of the "fairy princess" theme are there anyhow?) But when the time came, I just couldn't summon it from the inner bowels of my enthusiasm, so she (happily I may add) chose to go to Build a Bear with Chase. Jane was happy, I was happy-win:win.

Oh Aster's birthday-what a day. We went to the park in the morning and some girl fell of the play structure and left in an ambulance. Then we went home and during lunch Aster fell off the bench at our table and it tipped over onto her foot, and she couldn't walk, so we spent the rest of the afternoon at the dr/radioligist. (ps -no broken bones) So somehow I finished her birthday cake and it ended up being 9 inches tall. I wanted a little height, but not this monstrocity. It was really embarrassing, even though it was just us. However, the combination of fillings was divine. It was one of those jello poke cakes, with marshmallow mixed with whipped cream between two layers and cherry pie filling between the middle layer. So it looked awful, tasted good. That's when you let the kids finish the decorating it so you can say the kids helped. That way they feel proud, I save my pride, yet another win/win.

Look at this huge moth that flew into our house. We thought it was a bat at first. If you can imagine the dancing and jumping and and squeeling that ensued you will be entertained.

Lastly, we went to Sunset crater/ Wupatki ruins on Thursday (it's fall break) It was a blast. Except for our questionable lunch involving pringles and highly processed meat. One of us (not me) had to make an emergency bathroom stop on the way home.

Thanks for updating your post. It gives us more to do on Sunday, so we aren't tempted to break the Sabbath by space fighting. Did Aster(?) break any bones? Your cake looked delicious, and I don't think any cake is too high, unless it falls over. Which, obviously yours did not.

In these times, you really have to fight for your right to party. Great blog.
