So much has happened since our last post-the election, trouble with propositions, Chicago, birthdays.... I will post what we have pictures of. As far as political stuff I have so many thoughts and so much to say. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I am tired of it. So I will not mention how I feel about any of it. Except to say that I am hopeful for our future. I think we have a president that believes in dialogue. I am hopeful that we will see more dialogue in the future: between countries, between, social groups, churches... Dialogue people!!! And that's all I will say about that. We went to chicago for Konden to present at the AAR conference. Chicago was great. It would have been nice to see more of the city, but the conference was enlightening as well. Here are some photos.
This is the hall where the parliament of religions was held or at least the main parts. Konden's very first published article is about the Parliament of Religions at the Colombian Exposition in Chicago. The guide at the Art Institute had it unlocked for us to look at. That was nice.
On the way to church. I love public transportation. You don't have to stress about traffic, or directions, not to mention it's way cheaper than any other way. This is the only way to do it in big cities. I can't wait until Phoenix has decent public transportation.
See that house behind us that you can't see? That's Obama's house. We passed it on the way to church on Sunday. Not even on purpose.
This was also on the way to church.
We could see this ferris wheel from our hotel room and decided to walk to it. It was a dumb idea. This is as far as we got.
Here are our poor children who had to have Halloween without us. Luckily, they were able to go to a Halloween party, earlier in the month, so we could pretend. They missed out on no festivities, just us.
Edie and Konden also had birthdays. Edie had a hello kitty party at the park. Konden just had a party in traffic on his birthday and got home around 8 to eat his birthday dinner all by himself. It was also one of my all time bad days too (it involved walmart, two hours, all the kids, and no card to pay with.) But he turned 33 none the less.
Here are some pictures of happier times.
Sadly, we are POOR especially since Chicago, so we couldn't buy Edie's presents until her actual birthday because it was pay day, but she got to pick them out and we wrapped them and watched her open them, just me, Aster and Edie. But she liked them just the same.
I guess we don't have her party pictures on the computer yet. It was fun.
Well, even if that isn't all (I think it is) I am done typing. It is TOO boring.
